Answer by Dr Noopur S, MD  on Thu 26, Feb 2009 09:55pm:

This condition is referred to as hydrosalpinx and occurs due to injury to the fallopian tubes. The opening of the tube gets blocked and the tube gets filled with fluid secreted from the glands in the fallopian tubes. Salpingectomy or repair of the fallopian tubes is done but only in young women and in cases where the hydrosalpinx is small. In rest of the cases in vitro fertilization is the ultimate option to ensure a successful pregnancy. http://www.infertilitydoctor.com/treat/hydrosalpinx.htm
