I have pain in my lower back and lower stomach and pain going down my legs. What can cause this type of pain?

I go to sleep without any problems but I can't stay asleep. I wake in the middle of the night with funny feelings in my left lower back. I will lay there and run my fist up and down my spine (which pops all the way down) and it seems to relieve it but only for a minute. Should the vertebra be that loose that I can feel all of them move? Also, I do suffer from hot flashes. I am currently having my hormones raised from 1 mg. This back pain almost feels like nervousness -- as strange as that sounds. I have tried over the counter sleeping pills and even Flexeril. Both of those medications only make me feel WIRED!!! What in the world is wrong with me?????
