I have iud and i get very long periods starts out light then gets heavy with cramps

	I have the IUD for 10 months now and since i got it i get long periods i have had my period now for over a month what can i do.

	Answer by Dr Noopur S, MD (doctor) on Wed 23, Jul 2008 08:47am: Hi, How are you? IUD frequently causes heavy bleeding. But this bleeding normally lasts for a few days only after insertion. Since the bleeding is continuous, please schedule an appointment with your gynecologist as the IUD may need to be taken out. Do keep us posted!
