Here is the same answer I posted to the duplicate query:
Hi,
IF there is a problem maintaining Plavix, then Aspirin is a reasonable alternative. One of the problems
associated with aspirin is gastritis (inflammation of the stomach, usually declaring itself with pain) and
occasionally this may cause bleeding. It is important to take the aspirin after a meal. Watch out for changes
in the color of your stool, blood that runs through the intestines generally are black and tarry.
Combining the aspirin with a drug that reduces the risk of bleeding have been tried with very good results.
The best drugs for this, would be proton pump inhibitors (this would include esomeprazole, lansoprazole). But
the odds are, the financial problem with plavix would also limit the intake of these medications. The least
expensive drugs to limit aspirin gastritis would be antacids.
Stay positive.
