Subutex contains Buprenorphine, and approximately 95% of a single prescribed dose is eliminated from the body
in about 144 hours, mainly in the feces (68%) and partly in the urine (27%). Buprenorphine has a plasma half
life of 37 hours, so complete elimination is expected by 6-7 half lives. So, for a single dose, most of the
drug of should be excreted by 6-7 days. In reality, since it has a half life of about 37 hours, it will take
about 10-12 days for most of the drug to get excreted. However, in slow metabolizers, in those still abusing
the drug and in those who have been taking it for long, a sensitive test may detect small amounts of
buprenorphine for 10-15 days as well. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted.
