Hi. It is quite possible to have chronically enlarged lymph nodes in the sides of the neck because of any
lingering or recurrent infection around the area. It could be a throat infection, but a recurrent ear
infection or even dental caries can cause this.
Since you have a previous history of breast cancer, any persistently enlarged node, particularly if the node
is more than one centimeter in size and firm to hard in consistency, should make us suspect a possible
malignancy. If your lymph nodes have the above characteristics, then it might be prudent to have them biopsied
sooner.
