Asked by Unregistered on Fri 02, May 2008 10:15am :

I have really bad allgeries and have been on medication for it, mainly for congestion, with the recent spring coming about and it all of a sudden hitting me I have been getting rashes on my body and extreme itching in various places. Hive looking bumps on my arms, wrist and hands, nothing noticable but extreme itching on my butt, upper legs and groin area. There is nothing of bumps or anything, i have inexpected closley, maybe slightly dry but Iv been putting hydrocortisone on the areas which seem to help but they come back. this has been going on for 2-3 weeks. I will wake up from the itching on my legs and butt, mainly the upper back leg. Iv washed everyhing, I have no pets, and use a sensitive skin soap. It seems to happen worse at night, i will wake up and cant stop itching and sometimes the cream doesnt help. I need help and I have no insurance for a doctore.

Hi. I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing all of these. Allergies are really very hard to treat and address especially if an obvious cause cannot be ascertained. A formal testing should be done (to be conducted by an allergologist) through skin testing for the several different allergens. If pinpointed, then the avoidance of such can be easier. In your situation, the most common allergens especially in these season are pollens and dust mites. Washing and cleaning the area are sometimes not enough to kill dust mites and it would require washing with warm water. Short of a formal testing I mentioned, you need to really be vigilant on what can trigger your symptoms. Anti histamine medications as well as some form of steroid treatment may help in alleviating the symptoms. I hope you can have a formal consult done to evaluate this thoroughly. Regards and God bless.
