A sexually active 34y/o woman. Spotting during every intercourse.

	I am 34 years old woman having a sexual relationship. The problem is that everytime I have intercourse I end up bleeding (spotting). I do not know what the problem is. I want to know if it is something to worry about. And what the different possibilities.

	Answer by Dr Noopur S, MD (doctor) on Sat 19, Jul 2008 05:21am: Hi, How are you? There can be many causes of post coital bleeding or spotting. The most common is thin lining of vagina or cervix due to infection and inflammation. Other causes can be polyps and low estrogen. Low estrogens can cause atrophic vaginitis. I would suggest you schedule an appointment with your OBGYN and undergo a complete clinical exam. Do keep us posted!
